Senior technology leadership for businesses that have outgrown “whoever’s good with computers” but aren’t ready to hire an executive.
You’re a growing company, a non-profit, or a professional practice. Technology decisions are piling up — a new system, a renewal, an MSP contract, a security question from a customer — and nobody in the room is sure who’s supposed to answer them. You don’t need a full-time CTO. You need someone who has been one, a few hours a month.
The practice is led by Mike Alexander. Mike has been CTO of The Nation Network since 2019, responsible for the technology behind Canada’s largest independent digital sports media network. He co-founded Shift.Support, a managed IT services firm, and led it through its acquisition by Accurate Networks in 2025. Before that he was General Manager of the Edmonton branch of F12.net, one of Western Canada’s larger managed service providers, and ran his own IT consultancy serving small and mid-sized businesses. He holds a Network Engineering Technology diploma from NAIT.
In short: he has been the person answering these questions, for organizations from five people to millions of users, for the better part of twenty years.
Engagements are typically a fixed monthly retainer for an agreed number of hours, with a defined set of responsibilities. We also take on one-off assessments and project-based strategy work — for example, selecting an MSP or planning a system migration.
